Girls Write Now is a dynamic, multigenerational community of women on a mission. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, our nationally award-winning programs continue to provide creative and academic guidance, support, and opportunities for the next generation of writers. Girls Write Now is currently accepting applications for mentors and mentees for the September 2018 – June 2019 program year!
At Girls Write Now, we match high school girls with women professional writers and media makers as their personal mentors. In our Digital Media Mentoring Program, mentors and mentees combine storytelling with 21st century skills, learning new types of writing and digital skills such as website creation, podcast production, and digital mapping. In our Writing & Mentoring Program, mentors and mentees explore new trends in writing and elevate their voices as authors. Together, women learn and grow through weekly pair sessions and monthly workshops, presenting and publishing their original writing by year’s end.
“Girls Write Now is a place for me to immerse myself in doing something I love—but never had a chance to do.”
—LILY HE, Girls Write Now First Year Mentee
“[Girls Write Now means] connecting with other creative, strong women–of all ages–and being inspired by the work they are doing, in writing and beyond.”
—CAITLIN CHASE, Girls Write Now First Year Mentor
