Amira got her MFA in Fiction from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. For nine years, she’s been a faculty member in NYU’s Expository Writing Program. She spent Spring 2019 teaching at NYU-Shanghai and summer 2019 took her to Spain, to work on a project called "Reading the Quran in Madrid,” which has turned into, “Reading the Quran in the Time of Corona.” Amira was born in Beirut, Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War and now lives in Brooklyn with her husband Lee and their affectionate cat Mojo. An urban biker and gardener, Amira also loves journaling, tarot, meditation and yoga.
