Hannah Ramsey is a writer and aspiring physician-scientist from Huntsville, Alabama. She is currently a first-year student at Barnard College planning on studying neuroscience and behavior as well as English literature. Hannah is fascinated by developmental psychology and hopes to become an adolescent psychiatrist in the future, while also integrating her affinity for human connection and storytelling with the practice of narrative medicine. She writes poetry and personal essays, takes long walks, listens to too many podcasts and loves drinking iced mochas in her free time.

I elected to not have any submissions published this year. However, if I were to publish what I submitted, my artistic statement would be something along the lines of: Reflected in the stained-glass veil of the hometown chapel and embedded in the regalia of the church’s most devout, the experience of religious and familial estrangement is recounted for a forlorn speaker who has come to know insatiable hunger, both in its corporeal sense and through being deprived of personal truth.
