In this workshop, Mentees and Mentee alum will unlock their confidence, discover professional best practices, and learn to leverage their already existing network of family, friends, teachers, and of course each other. After engaging in a brief networking lesson, Mentees will partake in a “mock” Girls Write Now industry mixer, so we invite all participants to show up ready to mingle! Prior to the session’s close, mentees will have the opportunity to apply their new networking savvy by committing to connect with at least one other mentee in attendance and drafting a follow up message!

Lead by writer and NYU professor Susanna Horng, and with the support of mentors, mentees will explore their own unique story and how they can transform their lived experience into a powerful personal statement!
In this workshop, Mentees will recognize resume and cover letter writing as the art of marketing oneself as the best candidate for a specific role and access the highly sought after skills to practice that art with finesse in today’s competitive career market. Mentees are encouraged to come with “resumes in hand" for the opportunity to workshop their resumes under the guidance of Mentors!
Aligned with the upcoming opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios, this workshop will provide Mentees and NBCU employees, “Mentors of the Day,” with a space to escape end-of-year school and work worries, de-stress, and celebrate themselves as the true achievers they are—while designing their own theme park! Join NBCU for the chance to learn about exciting new careers, build your professional network in a night filled with nostalgia and imagination.
Join Girls Write Now for a Writing Works Deep Dive on Interviews and Thank You Emails! Led by Girls Write Now Fellow Sally Familia, attendees will be guided through the art of the interview, where we will provide tips and tricks that can be used for in-person and virtual interviews and identify best practices for interview preparation so that you land the role! Mentees will also explore the components of a thank you letter after the interview and be able to recognize what makes a great thank you letter.
In this workshop, participants will be guided through a series of creative writing exercises designed to help them assess how they show up in the world as different versions of themselves—aka, their various characters—and focus on developing themselves as one who has the confidence to dream big!
