online event; open to all mentees, mentee alumni and Macmillan employees
Does the idea of networking cause anxiety? It can be intimidating to talk about yourself—whether in person, on a resume or LinkedIn. In this workshop, mentees will learn networking fundamentals and best practices. With Macmillan mentors for the day by their side, mentees will shift their perspective from a transactional mindset to a relationship-oriented mindset. Come learn how to forge connections while being your authentic self. You’re probably already networking without even knowing it!
Following a short networking lesson, Girls Write Now mentees will draft elevator pitches, then work with Macmillan mentors in intimate, multi-generational groups to take their pitches to the next level. Mentors will offer valuable guidance and feedback through the lens of their own professional experiences while exchanging tips and tales—helping mentees realize that networking can be as simple as small talk!
This workshop is designed for mentees of all ages and employees at any level across all departments at Macmillan.
Writing Works Mentees are required to attend one Industry or Craft Writing Works workshop per month.
