online event; open to the public and all mentees & mentors

Join author Alexandra V. Méndez for a cozy celebration of her debut middle grade novel, What The Jaguar Told Her. Alexandra’s background informed her story of a Mexican-American girl named Jade who comes to terms with her identity with help from an elderly storyteller who is also a jaguar! Through a series of prompts, participants will explore language, family, place, bodies, and identity in fictionalizing their own experience with belonging all through the lens of magical realism.

PLUS, we will be giving away a signed copy of the novel to one lucky attendee!

At Friday Night Salons, guest artists share their personal and professional journeys, share an excerpt of their work, and guide us through a series of inspirational writing prompts.
