We’re thrilled to announce that Girls Write Now has been selected as one of ten semifinalists for the 2015 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards! This is our second year in a row to be named in the top ten and we are ecstatic.
Produced by the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, Philanthropy New York, and sponsored by WNYC, the awards honor organizations with exemplary management practices, better enabling them to realize their goals and cultivate their programs. “We’re thrilled to announce the 10 semifinalists of the 2015 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards,” said Michael Clark, president of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee (NPCC). “These organizations, which represent a wide range of nonprofit subsectors, have distinguished themselves and are to be commended for their stellar management practices.” “Congratulations to the ten semifinalists. They represent the best in nonprofit management and other organizations stand to learn much from them, which is exactly the point of this awards program,” said Lorie Slutsky, president of The New York Community Trust, one of the region’s leading funders of nonprofits.
“In mentoring young women to find their voices, Girls Write Now is committed to excellence in our programs,” explained founder and executive director, Maya Nussbaum. “We are honored to be recognized twice by the Nonprofit Excellence Awards for the management practices that sustain and strengthen these programs–especially now as we are poised for strategic growth in 2016 and beyond.”
We’re humbled to be in the company of such diverse nonprofits as America Needs You, Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC), Cardinal McClocksey Community Services, Ghetto Film School, Go Project, Groundswell, New York Common Pantry, The New York Foundling, and TNTP. They’ll be announcing three finalists later this year, so stay tuned! Read more about the awards and each semifinalist in the official press release.
