The times they are a-changin’! This month we’re saying goodbye to our amazing Director of Development & External Affairs Jessica Wells-Hasan, who, after two and a half years at Girls Write Now, will be moving on to a new role at The Opportunity Agenda, another great NYC nonprofit. Says Jess, “I very much look forward to continuing my involvement with Girls Write Now, someday as a volunteer, but certainly as a donor who can’t wait to receive my holiday appeal letter! Thank you all so much for the generous spirit you have shown towards me, and to Girls Write Now.”
Jess, we’re sad to see you go, excited for the new heights you’ll reach in the years to come (and happy you’ll be leaving the seltzer maker and blender).
In the meantime, we’re giddy beyond belief about two new faces at Girls Write Now HQ. It’s our pleasure to introduce to you the rockstars new to our team.
- Emily Coppel is our Digital Program Manager, working to launch our new Digital Writing Mentoring Program in partnership with Parsons the New School for Design. Emily comes to us most recently from South Africa with a passion for telling people’s stories and empowering youth through innovative multimedia training.
- Aarti Monteiro is our new Program Coordinator, joining the team to support our flagship Writing & Mentoring Program. Aarti brings to us her passion for education and writing as an Americorps Teaching Fellow at Citizen Schools, where she taught middle school students in an extended learning time program and participated in the founding of The Urban Assembly Unison School in Brooklyn.
The next time you’re at a Girls Write Now event, be sure to introduce yourself to Emily and Aarti. But our team isn’t full yet! We’re now hiring for two positions: Director of Development & External Affairs, and Administrative Coordinator. Early applications are encouraged so write yourself in!
