This year, the Girls Write Now Awards are all about celebrating women and girls who write the world and inspire us to keep breaking through. That’s why we’re so pleased to announce that at this year’s Awards, taking place June 3 at the Bowery Hotel, our honorees are Gloria Steinem (Feminist, Activist, & Author) and Roberta Kaplan (Partner, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP), two women who embody exactly the kind of boundary-breaking, change-making, iconic work that we see in our own girls and mentors every day.
It’s an especially huge honor today, on Gloria’s 80th birthday, because Gloria has been and continues to be a mentor for so many young women. In her own relationships and communities, she continues to right the world and encourage others to write it for themselves.
Gloria’s lifetime of activism and mentoring are unparalleled, and it’s because of her courage, vision, and fearlessness that we’re so thrilled to honor her at our 2014 Girls Write Now Awards as a woman who writes the world.
Join us on Twitter today: we believe that girls can #WritetheWorld. How will you write the world? And who are the women in your life or that you look up to who #WritetheWorld?
