As we continue to build and grow at Girls Write Now, we’re excited to welcome our newest staff members to the team: Nalini Edwin and Suhaila Meera!
Our new Digital Program Manager, Nalini Edwin, comes to Girls Write Now with a background in online publishing and digital art, focused on project management, communications, and capacity-building. Prior to joining GWN, Nalini managed editorial operations at New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) as Editor, NYFA.org; as an editor and web developer, she has worked for a number of media outlets and start-ups, including The New York Times, Hearst Digital, Epicurious, and Longform. She holds an MFA from the Department of Literary Arts at Brown University — where she taught digital language arts to undergraduates and worked on a creative-freedom initiative — and a BA from Emory University.
Joining us as our new Operations Coordinator is Suhaila Meera. Suhaila holds a BA from Cornell University with specializations in History and Film. While at Cornell she was captain of her competitive Indian dance team and spent a semester immersed in an intensive theater workshop in Bombay. A summer interning with a human rights lawyer in Delhi, working to raise awareness around the conscientious handling of rape cases, reinforced her concern for women’s rights the world over. Returning to her first loves – the arts, dance, theater, and writing – she spent the year after graduation handling the digital marketing for a prominent Delhi-based arts management firm, Teamwork Arts.
And, there’s a new (tiny) member in the Girls Write Now community! Congratulations, Amber, on the addition to your family: Luke Whitman West!
