Girls Write Now is fueled by dedicated volunteers, and we’re pleased to introduce some new faces to the mix: extraordinary women who’ve already rolled up their sleeves and made themselves indispensable!
New to our Board of Directors: Unyi Agba comes to us from Colgate-Palmolive, with deep experience in public relations and brand marketing, and a passion for arts advocacy; Sandra Bang has a commitment to continuing education and career coaching as the Director of Global Legal Talent Development at Shearman & Sterling LLP; Carol Blum, Regulatory Compliance Manger at FX Alliance, has a background in financial services and mathematics, and a lifelong interest in tutoring and mentoring; Justine Lelchuk, Manager in the Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations practice at Deloitte Consulting, also leads Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative for MBA and undergraduate recruits; and Ellen Sweet, a freelancer for magazines like Ms., and a nonprofit communications pro, most recently served as Vice President for External Affairs at Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health. Unyi is Co-Chairing GWN’s Spring Event Task Force; Ellen has assumed the role of our Acting Marketing Chair, with a focus on press and publicity.
New to our Program Advisory Committee: Demetria Irwin (mentor alum, class of 2010-12), freelance editor and writer, covers just about everything from pop culture to politics, and steps in as GWN’s Mentor Enrollment Chair; Ilana Manaster (mentor alum, class of 2011) brings her expertise as a performer, writer, and educator to our CHAPTERS reading series as GWN’s Readings Co-Chair.
“I’ve focused on determining the most effective and efficient means to enhance women’s lives and careers,” says new recruit, Justine. GWN has executed a program that is producing results and doing what I have always hoped to achieve. I look forward to being a Board member.”
