AREAS OF FOCUS
Community Building
Girls Write Now brings together an intergenerational, diverse community, creating an environment of creativity and support with the power to change lives. Our community spans beyond New York City and creates safe-spaces for youth of color and LGBTQ+ youth to connect and grow together— all while cultivating their creativity and finding their voices in community.
Mental Health and Wellness
Through workshops, salons, and community chats, mentors and mentees are introduced to mental health and DEI experts providing knowledge of wellness practices. Participants learn tools and strategies to engage in self-care, restorative well- being, and creative reflection.
Girls Write Now
For 25 years, Girls Write Now has been breaking down barriers of gender, race, age and poverty to mentor the next generation of writers and leaders who are impacting businesses, shaping culture and creating change. Thank you for joining our movement.
The Upswing Fund
The Upswing Fund for Adolescent Mental Health is a collaborative fund focusing on the mental health and well-being of adolescents who are of color and/or LGBTQ+. Created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a devastating impact on young people across the United States, The Upswing Fund provides critical resources to front-line organizations that provide the services that young people rely on. In addition, the Fund supports efforts to address key systemic challenges in the adolescent mental health system such as stigma around seeking mental health support.
