• NNEKA ULU joined the Girls Write Now community to help propel herself towards the eclectic writer that she desires to become. Her humble abode is in a snug little community in Queens, New York. She attends Queens Gateway to Health Sciences as a senior and is currently in her first year at Girls Write Now. Nneka prides herself on being the most social introvert that you will ever meet. While she is not the archetypal New York socialite, her clumsiness and wit have charmed many. It is also rumored that she has the best dad jokes in all of New York City. Nneka is a drummer, writer, and zealous coffee drinker. Her favorite thing about writing is that it allows her to document the maturation of not only her syntax and diction, but her ever-changing ideas and perspectives.
• ASSATA ANDREWS is a second-year mentee at Girls Write Now and a senior attending Hillside Arts & Letters Academy. Assata was born and raised in Queens, New York. She joined Girls Write Now to build relationships with people who have similar passions, improve her writing skills, and explore more genres. She has been writing since middle school after finding inspiration to narrate her own stories from musicians and authors whose stories had an impact on her. Assata’s writing has been published in her school’s literary magazine, and she has earned a scholarship for her strong academic performance to attend The College at Saint Rose. Because of the opportunity Girls Write Now has given her, Assata aspires to become a songwriter and eventually a musician—with the inspiration of poetry.
