Have You Ever…
By Dewou Gloria Minza
This is a video about the natural world and how much of an impact it has on us in our day-to-day lives.
Have you ever been warmed by the evening sun,
caressed by buttery rays of the retreating horizon,
enchanted by golden streams of comfort?
Have you ever sat under the coolest shade,
lulled to sleep by swaying branches,
carried into dreams by rustling leaves
whispering among themselves,
as you marveled at patches of light
peeking through dense foliage?
Have you ever fallen in love
with tumbling clouds,
seen orange light seep into white stratosphere,
been seduced by purples and pinks and lilacs
dancing to broken melodies,
looked up at melding clouds
and thought,
“God must be coming down.”
Have you ever caught the sky staring back
with eyes of the deepest sapphire
and vibrant emerald lashes,
with sunset red lips
parted in wonder?
Have you ever lay by slowly churning waters,
nestled beside burbling creeks,
itched to let your fingers brush rippling waves,
or let overwhelming worries ebb
and flow like retreating tides?
Process
Nature is always my go-to whenever I think about digital art or photography. I decided to create a video using found poetry and pictures I had taken over the course of the past few years. Everything was centered around CapCut (a video editing app) and was pulled together with music from TikTok.
