Tiny Worlds
By Claire Giannosa
Oftentimes, it’s easy to lose ourselves in the bustle of society. Easy to fall into the online world and never resurface. In this collection of poems, the beauty of nature is explored in a personal way, with the hope that you will find a new reason to stop and appreciate the world around us. These poems reflect on what can be seen, and describe the complexity of nature that I hope you find to ring true. These poems are dedicated to the sky, the flowers, the trees, and the ocean, who need our protection now more than ever.
Process
I knew going into this process that I wanted to write a collection of poetry, I just didn’t know what the story would be. I considered telling the story of three girls, but instead decided to write about four different aspects of nature. I had so much fun creating this piece on Canva and playing around with the different shapes and colors that would best capture the essence of each element. My mentor also gave me the wonderful idea to hide the titles of each poem in the posts to let the reader figure out the meaning on their own.
