Meet the Pair
Mentee Ashley Nuñez & Mentor Amber Jamieson
Ashley’s Anecdote: The Girls Write Now pairing skills are truly unmatched! Amber is the coolest and cheekiest rascal. No words can truly describe our “pair writing relationship;” we work so well because we connect on a spiritual level (not a joke). From pikelets to 5Ks. Or games of “Guess who I’m writing about?” Or counting out syllables for our haiku. Amber and I have been the funniest, most interesting team imaginable.
Amber’s Anecdote: From the first day we met, and she mocked me for not knowing how to pronounce Rego Park, I felt very lucky to be matched with Ashley. I love our weekly Court Square diner catch-ups, where we write about customers, hope that our favorite server is working and tell each other long and meandering stories about our lives. Ashley is kind, overwhelmingly thoughtful, and has an innate sense of justice. Plus, she’s really funny. I’m so thrilled that she’s going to study journalism at Stony Brook University, because she’s exactly what our industry needs.
