Starting a new chapter in your life can seem overwhelming. As I’m flooded with emotions, I’ve learned that goodbyes are a way of welcoming what’s to come with open arms.

I try to be as open and honest as I can which is why I have always enjoyed creative writing. I have been focusing on college and what is next for me, though poetry is something I will always lean back on to connect with my audience. I have grown into a writer that does not hesitate to voice her opinion and speak her mind.
My multimedia piece is a slideshow on Canva called “Everything You Need to Know About Sheyla.” This was my first time working on a digital piece. I wanted the Girls Write Now community to have a guide of everything they need to know about what makes me who I am.
During these times, I learned how important it is to find happiness in the small moments. Reflecting on life pre-pandemic, I was inspired to write about the little things in life that bring me joy.
My inspiration for this piece came after having a deep conversation with someone I trust. I came to the realization that there are two different sides to everyone—including myself.
