Virtual event; open to all mentees, all mentors, program alum, and the public
Counts towards monthly Community Studio requirement for mentees and mentors!
In this studio you will learn about Girls Write Now’s Next-Gen Philanthropy Initiative, entitled The Story Changes Minds. What we have always had to give is our Time, our Stories, and access to our Communities. Money, or the lack thereof, has often prevented us from viewing ourselves through a philanthropic lens.
Our goal is to raise a generation of philanthropists—givers and advocates—from among our next generation of leaders. Girls Write Now will provide mentees, and our community-at-large, greater control over our world and our own destinies, all while blazing a trail for those who follow. Girls Write Now’s Next-Gen Philanthropist Initiative encourages everyone to participate in philanthropy through raising the next generation of leaders.
The NextGen Philanthropy Initiative began with one goal in mind, to eradicate all of the perceived barriers between being a philanthropist and where you are in your life right now. This month’s challenge is simple, we’re asking every participant to consider this “Take One Action.” We know the The Story Changes Minds. What does that mean? It means that your Time, your Story, your Community, and your Money (no matter what amount) are the things you can give…and all that is required is for you to Take One Action. Let’s figure that out together..
About Our Next-Gen Philanthropist Committee
Girls Write Now’s Next-Gen Philanthropist Initiative is redefining and REIMAGINING philanthropy through educating and supporting the next generation of leaders. We invite active and alum mentors and mentees along with community members interested in redefining philanthropy to join us on a journey to think and act differently. We hope to launch our own initiative in 2024.
Next-Gen Philanthropy Committee will meet monthly during the 2023-2024 Girls Write Now Collaboratory. Mentors, mentees, alumni, and members of the public are welcome to attend our meetings.
