Write letters to and for our gender expansive community members in this activism-inspired writing prompt.
Use the padlet below to respond to one of the following prompts.
- Write a letter to a trans or non-binary person in your life (this can also be a letter to yourself). What do you want to know from them? How can you offer support in a way that prioritizes their needs? When have you experienced gender affirmation or gender euphoria?
- Write a letter to your state representative about a recent piece of transgender legislation. What are your concerns? Include any personal testimony that will help you make your point.
During this most recent spate of anti-transgender legislation across the United States, we want to invite our community to leave their letters on our website, so that others may draw strength, love, and inspiration from them. If you need to view the padlet in a larger window, click the button in the top right corner of the box below.
Find your state representative and send your letter using the resource here. Remember that your voice can impact change. Recently, Louisiana Senators came together to block HB 648, which would have banned gender-affirming healthcare for minors. You can show your support for these actions by writing to your legislators.
