Guide Dog Chronicles
By Sheridan Cole and Meghan McDonough
As research for our screenplay featuring a character who is blind with a guide dog, we interviewed Lorri Bernson, who works at Guide Dogs of America and has had four guide dogs of her own.
Performance
Process
For our anthology submission, we wrote the first three scenes of a screenplay featuring a character who is blind and her guide dog. After researching potential interview subjects, we chose Lorri due to her experience with Guide Dogs of America and work consulting on TV shows. She responded to our email that she’d love to be featured, and we conducted the interview itself over Zoom in January. We then chose our favorite part of the narrative, recorded our introduction, and chose sound effects and music (Creative Commons search on YouTube). Meghan edited on Adobe Premiere Pro over screenshare so that Sheridan could advise on timing, etc.
