RESCHEDULED SESSION – Want a physical representation of your fan-love? Then a fanzine is right for you! Together, we’ll learn about what they are, how they express personal creativity, and how to craft one yourself!

In this final studio, writers will revisit the tools of tension, combining genre techniques with sensory detail to strengthen their storytelling. Through guided prompts and a workshop-style session, participants will generate new work that reflects both what they’ve learned and their unique voice.

Explore a crossroad of creative non-fiction and poetry through the prose poem, a form that combines the composition and realm of creative non-fiction and the poetry format. Learning the prose poem can help you approach poetry in a new way.

Get ready to get inspired! In this studio, you’ll learn how to find the hook of your story and go beyond the basic “who, what, where, when, why.” We’ll debate whether it’s rue that you must “write what you know” and we’ll do some brainstorming to help you mine your life, and the world around you, for great story ideas.

In this studio, participants will learn strategies for portfolio-building, college and career exploration, as well as tips for balancing workload and wellness in high school. Participants will gain access to easy-to-use tools and external resources for further individual research.

The final studio, How to Handle Hecklers, uses the mnemonic device HUMOR to address hecklers in the workplace. HUMOR engages active listening and critical thinking to disarm facetious or malicious intents.

In this session, sound will be used as a tool for self-reflection and emotional exploration, allowing participants to tune into emotions they may be experiencing or have experienced in the past. Participants will explore creative sound and audio practices such as audio journaling, songwriting, and beat-making.

In this lesson, participants will be asked to explore and define the movement and change that happens within fictional worlds and within the fictional world they are creating. The exploration will be fostered by participants looking at fictional worlds and the ways that different elements of storytelling change fictional worlds.

Creative burnout (that “I-have-ideas-but-also-none” feeling) is more common than you think, and in this session we’re unpacking why it happens and how inspiration is hiding in your everyday life: your texts, routines, memories, even the “boring” stuff. As it turns out, the creativity isn’t gone. You just haven’t been looking in the right places. So join us to unpack it and get your creativity flowing again.

The way you frame your voice…is your choice! Join this studio to learn how to develop a narrative voice that is unequivocally and uniquely YOU!

Though writing, we can explore themes of uncertainty, and can choose when to be truthful. In this session, students will learn conversational writing by identifying their writing styles, and truthful feelings that they want to write about in a conversational way.

In this studio session, we’ll cover the key differences in the academic curriculum between high school and college, along with how to read a syllabus and make a plan to achieve the grades you want.

Fandom communities have a wide variety of people, but it can sometimes be hard to start engaging with the community. One great way to interact is participating in challenges such as Big Bangs and Reverse Big Bans have fandom artists and writers collaborate together on projects! This workshop will take inspiration from such challenges, and we will create in response to different mediums of fan works.

Politics is not for a select few—government impacts every single one of us. Explore how you can get involved and use storytelling to influence policy.

This studio explores how to write powerful villains and morally complex characters by focusing on belief, motivation and internal logic rather than simple “good vs. evil.” Participants will learn how antagonists mirror the hero, challenge their beliefs, and create deeper, more meaningful conflict. By the end, they’ll be able to craft layered villains whose perspectives feel real, compelling, and impossible to ignore.

In this interdisciplinary studio, attendees contemplate crises that they feel compassionate toward and develop methods to address them in their writing. Attendees will participate in a meditation and complete writing activities designed to encourage mindfulness of the world around them.

In this community studio, participants will explore the DIY Publishing world and how to distribute their zines through zine fairs, consignment, art boxes and more! (plus the freedom of binding and sharing your zines in cool shapes!)
