I Am Mother Nature
Earth is often referred to as Mother Earth. I wanted to explore this idea: how “Mother” Earth would sound speaking to humankind about the atrocities inflicted on her. The use of repetitions appealed to me.
If I am the answer to your prayer, then you must be the seeker
If I am the scorching sun, then you are the doomed, drowned Icarus
If I am the home to your child, then you must the worshiper
If I am the giver to your kind, then you are the destroyer of mankind
If I am to be a broken ravine, then you will be the sufferer
If I am the beautiful temptress, then you must be the beguiling lover
If I am the muse of your voracious appetite, then you are the unappeased thirst
If I am the torment to your fire, then you are the parasite
If I am to be the home of your life, then you must be the truth bearer
If I am to borne the brunt of your desires, then you are the famished taker
If I am to be kind, then you must be the soul scorched
If I am the insatiable love, then you were the vengeful wrecker
The world is shaking, and you are the rumbling
The world is rotting, you rotting with me
